Searching for some autumn activities that the whole family can partake in? Don’t worry I got you covered! Guaranteed everyone will enjoy.

Autumn. One of the most magical seasons. I am in a constant war over which season I enjoy more…autumn or winter. Both are lovely. Autumn though has a warm charm wrapped around it. The change of colors in scenery, the beautiful trees changing from green to a vivid red, orange, yellow, and brown. I love it all. The cosy outfits we get to wear, because who doesn’t love comfy baggy sweaters and knee thigh boots? The hunt for finding the best fall foliage in your hometown. It’s all magical.

For some reason there is this myth surrounding fall that just because it’s brisk outside there are no adventures to be had. Summer is long gone, but that does not stop me from enjoying the great outdoors and partaking in Autumn Activities.

I have compiled a list of my personal favorite autumn adventures, so get in the pumpkin spirit and partake in some of these inexpensive activities.

I hope you all are able to take a break from the busy world around you, and go out and enjoy your self.

Pumpkin Patch

Autumn Activity at Pumpkin Patch

Who doesn’t love going to the pumpkin patch! Finding the perfect pumpkin, getting lost in the corn maze, drinking apple cider, it’s all wonderful! Last year I dragged my big and loud family to the pumpkin patch and it was one of my favorite memories of the year. Make a contest on who can find the perfect pumpkin, or you could be like my family and search for the oddball pumpkin.

Pumpkin patches are also a perfect location for that perfect family picture you’ve been longing for. So many lovely picture opportunities at a Pumpkin Patch.

Is it just me or are pumpkins extremely photogenic?

Fall Movie Night

It is official. I have somehow turned into my mother. Her love for hallmark movies has somehow magically teleported to me. I went from making fun of her love of them, to sitting in my own house watching them. It’s madness. I never thought I’d see the day were I enjoyed the cheesiness that goes on in Hallmark movies.

My absolute favorite fall movie, and one that I watch every year is, When Harry Met Sally. It gets me ready for fall, and those cold crisp nights. When Harry and Sally walk through New York city the scenery is absolutely gorgeous. The trees are orange with leaves everywhere. Makes me want to grab my coziest coat and book a ticket to NYC.

Carve a Pumpkin

Autumn Activity of carved pumpkins

I loved carving pumpkins ever since I was little. For some reason I always enjoyed taking out all the yuck from the inside while my brother would sit with a disgusted look on his face. I was always much better at the carving out, than the actual artist skills. So much fun to get your hands dirty and put your creative skills to the test.

Not a fan of the mess from carving? Paint your pumpkins! I have seen so many cute pumpkin designs all over pinterest. Some of them even look somewhat easy… even my non artistic ass could do it.

GooDSGN Home & Apartment ideas have 30 creative ideas to paint your pumpkins. Check the link out. I personally love the Harry Potter design!

Sip one of the many Fall Drinks from a Coffee Shop

The joy of sitting at a coffee shop with your favorite drink in your hand is a wonderful feeling. One of the best feelings is when you walk into the coffeeshop and the cozy lounge chair by the fire is actually free!

Bring your work with you and stop procrastinating. I find when I force myself to leave my office, and take my laptop to our local coffee shop I’am much more studious and actually end up getting my work done.

Don’t feel like bringing your work, bring a friend and catch up! You could even bring along your favorite table friendly board game. I even know so many coffeeshops that on certain nights (especially during the fall/winter seasons) they will bring in local artists to perform their music. So peaceful to sip your hot cocoa with live soft music playing in the background.

Make Caramel Apples

Does this one need an explanation? Caramel… need i say more?

I highly recommend doing a candy apple bar one night. Every year my family comes over and I have my kitchen set up with a bar like setting of candy apples. I melt the caramel in my crock pot, and once it’s all melted I keep the caramel on the warm setting.

Next I cut the apples and put them on sticks (makes the clean up so much easier).

In little bowls I have an arrangement of all kinds of toppings. Mini marshmallows, sprinkles, chopped nuts, mini chocolate chips, shredded coconut, chopped reese’s peanut candy, etc. Let your imagination run wild with the toppings.

It’s always a big hit in my house with kids and adults.

I mean how yummy do those caramel apples look?

Attend Oktoberfest

Can you get a more authentic autumn activity than OKTOBERFEST? Where I live they don’t have an Oktoberfest sadly. If you are one of the lucky people with a town that celebrates this event, attend!! Drink, Dance, Dress up, and get a little crazy.

The best thing? You don’t need to pay to enjoy the festives! From my knowledge there is no entry fee to get inside the Oktoberfest grounds. Sadly though the liquor is not free, and you will have to pay to enjoy their delicious beer.

If you are an organized bee like myself, you can pay for a ticket to Oktoberfest and reserve a table. Saving yourself the headache and avoid running around looking for a free corner. Also a bonus is that the money you put down for the reservation you can apply towards a food/drink voucher. So you are pretty much getting your money back in yummy treats!

If you are looking for a more adventurous activity I would check out Oktoberfest and see if your area hosts them! Definitely a fun activity that everyone should do at least once in their lifetime!

Have a Bonfire Gathering

One of my favorite autumn activities! I mean who doesn’t love sitting by the fire while star gazing? Is there an activity that is more fallish than this?

You could also partake in my personal favorite reasoning of doing bonfires. SMORES! Melted chocolate on a marshmallow sandwiched between graham crackers….HEAVEN. If you have a major sweet tooth, I recommend melting recess peanut butter chocolate instead of just plain old Hershey. Its delicious!

Invite your family and friends, tell ghost stories around the fire, drink some beer, or whatever beverage you prefer and enjoy the night.

Decorate Your Home

Grab some pumpkins, fall scented candles, wreaths, or whatever pleases you. Make a day out of it. Spend the day shopping for your favorite fall accessories, and in the night decorate your home with a fall music playlist on in the background. You could even go in your own backyard and find pine cones, leaves, or any other cool autumn finds and get creative.

DIY Bitch. (Sadly, an area I do not excel in).

My favorite part of my house during the fall is my front porch. I have a black bench that I purchased on amazon and I decorate it with three very festive fall pillows and a pumpkin, and when it gets closer to Halloween I pull out Billy. Our 6ft skeleton friend.

Bake

Scones with pumpkins for Autumn

Pick some fresh apples, and then go home and bake a homemade apple pie. There is something in the air that relaxes me when I bake in the fall. I can’t really explain the feeling, but I find that seeing the rain outside while baking some goodies in the kitchen soothes me.

Does anyone else feel this way?

There are so many great baking recipes out there…most of them I find on Pinterest (seriously thank God for Pinterest). Bake something with fresh apples in it, or pumpkin! My go to Autumn recipe is a classic pumpkin roll! So delicious and a crowd favorite.

The recipe I use is from blogger Lisa Ode, and if you want to make her delicious pumpkin roll, here is the link.

Fun fact that my husband told me last year: PUMPKIN SPICE doesn’t actually contain any pumpkin! Is anyone else aware of this? Why the hell is it called pumpkin spice?

Escape to a Cabin/Mountains

Autumn Activity image of Mountain

No matter where you live, if you have mountains that you can escape and enjoy I’m sure they are majestic. Mountains are a good way of reminding us how beautiful the world around us is, and a great way to remember to breathe and take life one day a time.

If you are able to rent a cabin for a weekend or even just one night, do it! Every year we get a group together and escape to the cabin for a weekend, and split the costs between the ten of us. Such a big group made the costs of everything fairly inexpensive.

I mean in all honesty who doesn’t love an escape from reality. Make your way towards the mountains, and breath in all that lovely fresh air.

Hike/ Run a 5K

Autumn Activity of image of color run

Just because summer is over it does not mean hiking is also over with. Find some local trails in your city and go out on a day adventure. Hiking in the fall is honestly the best season, because you don’t end up sweating from that intense summer sun. The trails are gorgeous, the tall trees are decorated with their colorful leaves, and the autumn air is divine.

Go capture those fall colors!

Where I grew up every year there were so many 5k runs in the city, so im pretty positive your city has a couple organized 5k runs. Get some friends together, dress up for the event in something wild, and go running. Or you can do what I did and end up pretty much walking…with a light jog every quarter mile.

5K’s you should attend to get yourself in the spirit of Autumn:

The Color Run

Halloweenathon

Monster Dash

So much fall fun to be had!
