How a change in scenery inspired me to write.
A change in scenery is how I decided to start a blog. I was once surrounded by greenery with a backdrop of the lovely mountain. Now there is no mountain, but I do see the Atlantic Ocean in the Caribbean Sea. Both are natural beauties and can not be compared to one another.
How did I end up uprooting my life and moving to Antigua & Barbuda? Marriage. It’s beautiful what a human in love is capable of. I moved almost 4,000 miles away from home and family and ventured into the unknown; to spend the rest of my days with my love on an Island. Where I come from my family and I drive two hours to reach the closest beach and we arrive with sweatshirts on and jump in to the freezing cold gray waters. In my new life I drive 5 minutes and I’m greeted with clear blue skies, soft powder sand, and a crystal clear blue ocean.
The change in scenery is quite different. Many days I ache for the gentle rain that I’m used to. I crave the rain. To be able to curl up next to the fireplace with a brilliant book and a cup of cinnamon tea. It is strange to say the constant sunshine makes me blue, and yet it does. I love to hear the pitter patter of raindrops on my window. Who doesn’t love the sound of rain?
Summer all year round is not ideal. What is a life without witnessing the warm colors of autumn, or watching the dazzling cherry blossoms bloom in my old neighborhood?
There are so many people who want summer all year-those people are psychotic. The island will play tricks on me by raining all morning and will make me think the sun will be gone all day, but I know better now. The sun always shines on an island. Just give it a little time.
Why I Launched a Blog
I started this blog because I needed a change. My life had become quite tedious, with a daily routine that needed a little mix up. I had gone on multiple job interviews, but at the end of the day I would come home with disappointment and sadness. Thankfully my husband gave me a well needed push to start my own career. Be my own Boss. As much as that scared me, I knew that I needed to do this. Even though I’m NOT the most tech savvy person, I am determined to give my blog a fighting chance.
What writing material can you find on my page? Well lets see… I do not travel often enough to make this solely all about travel experiences. I don’t particularly love cooking, and only do it every day for the sole purpose that I have to eat or I become quite hangry. Yes, I enjoy taking photos, but mainly of my loved ones and to be frank no one else would enjoy seeing my husband strike a pose with a funny look on his face. Definitely do not look chic everyday, and unless I am traveling my idea of fashion is shorts and a tank top.
I have very few passions in life, but many loves. I am a lover of love, reading, food, and I try to enjoy the daily adventures that I encounter. Bare with me and hopefully you are all patient enough to continue reading my blog series.
