Are you currently in Antigua & Barbuda searching for the best places to eat while you are here? When you come to Antigua you will have multiple restaurant options, all offering a tropically delicious menu. I have complied my own personal favorite of top restaurants in Antigua & Barbuda. It was difficult to narrow down my list to my tops, but I have managed. Honestly I rate a good restaurant on the quality and the portions.

I’m not the biggest fan of the classiest restaurants- classy fancy restaurants usually offer small portions and I usually leave hungry.

90% of Antigua’s restaurants are located outside, so hopefully that doesn’t bother you. It is hard to recommend restaurants when everyone has different taste buds, but many places I have listed offer a mix of food that everyone should enjoy.

Food lovers rejoice and reunite and if you do happen to arrive to Antigua and try one of these restaurants please let me know!

Antigua & Barbuda Top 5 Beaches

Cloggys:

Cloggys is located in English Harbour, and is an outdoor restaurant with a view overlooking the Harbour and because it is on an elevated deck there is a constant breeze so you aren’t sweating from the heat while enjoying your meal.

This restaurant offers many food options, so if you are with a group that can’t agree what they all want, Cloggys would be your number one option.

My food recommendation is shawarma! It is fat, extra stuffed, saucy, and tasty chicken pita sandwich. My family is Middle Eastern and we make homemade shawarma sandwiches, and even we say it’s delicious.

Side note: Try the lime squash drink! If you love lime try it, and you can make it as sweet or sour as you want. Lime squash is my go to drink order, but not one restaurant makes it as delicious as Cloggys. It’s one of my favorite non alcoholic drinks on the island.

Make sure you venture out onto their docks and walk around while soaking up the sun and the sea breeze. If you happen to visit during Tourist season (November-April) you will see many yachts parked around the harbour, and for some reason the ocean and all the boats is very tranquil and resembles an image from most puzzles.

Before you make your way out of the Harbour, directly below Cloggys is a small cafe. I recommend buying a mango smoothie to go, and make your way back home with a delicious beverage in your hand.

Spices of India:

This is our takeout dinner every Saturday, and for a good reason. The staff are friendly, and if you love spicy I highly recommend Spice of India. Their naan is to die for and they offer many vegetarian options.

Their vegetarian dishes Bhindi Masala (Okra) and Channa Masala (chickpeas) have so much flavor its makes my mouth water just thinking about it. I particularly love their vegetable spicy hakka noodles and mushroom masala. If you don’t love extremely spicy food, you can enjoy their food with either mild, medium, or hot spice.

Order a little bit of everything on their menu, Indian food is best eaten shared with a combination of everything on your plate.

Al Porto:

Al Porto is a must if you love pizza with a breathtaking view. Their pizza is made fresh and cooked in a wood fire oven and it is absolutely delicious. It’s an Italian restaurant and they also offer pasta, but honestly the pasta is nothing special. I tried their pasta once and I much preferred the pizza.

They have about 10 different pizza options, and my husband and I have tried all of them and they are all delicious! Our favorite is their vegetarian with no spinach.

The pricing is affordable, and if you go on a Tuesday they have 2 for 1 pizza night! If you are looking for a restaurant on the water and great pizza this needs to be penciled in to your itinerary.

Cafe Bella:

This isn’t technically a restaurant, but I am adding it to my list because their sandwiches and coffee make it a perfect meal for lunch. Antigua’s cafes don’t offer any fancy flavored coffee like Starbucks would, most of the cafes here offer vanilla, hazelnut, or caramel.

Recently though Cafe Bella added white chocolate mocha to their menu along with a few other not so basic flavors…

so if your inner basic American girl is coming out and all you want is a delicious white chocolate mocha this is the place to go (literally it is your only option… trust me I have looked).

They offer sandwiches, soups, burgers, salads, and daily specials. If you go on a Tuesday their special is roti and it’s pretty damn delicious. If you are a traveler who enjoys trying local food, roti is one of Antigua’s specials.

Southpoint:

Go here for the sushi! It’s a little bit on the classier side and the restaurant is on a dock that overlooks the Falmouth Harbour marina. They have a lounge area, so if you want drinks (I recommend the mojito), a stunning view, and a comfy sitting area Southpoint is one of your best choices.

It is a beautiful and yummy option for dinner. It you are with a group that don’t enjoy sushi their menu also offers other options. Southpoint offers asian, mediterranean, and Middle Eastern cuisine. The pricing is a little bit on the spendier side, but it is worth it.

Their food is fresh, savory, and they have daily specials. If you go on a day when they are offering lobster salad, order it! I am not really a big fan of lobster, because I feel like lobster does not have much flavor and lacks spices, but this salad is so flavorful and tasty I am constantly craving it.

The sushi menu is not available for lunch, so if this is why you are going make sure you go between 6pm- 10pm. If you do decide to go to Southpoint do your research or just call them, because on some nights they have a live band playing. So you can enjoy your meal with some lovely soft music in the background.

Even if you are just looking for a cozy place to lime, while sipping yummy cocktails and appetizers I highly recommend Southpoint.

KFC:

Strange that a fast food restaurant is on my list, but trust me! The caribbean islands are known for how tasty the KFC is, and the ones in the United States are pure garbage. I am not really a fast food junkie, (unless it’s dairy queen because who doesn’t love ice cream) but during my 1st visit to Antigua I was pretty much forced to try KFC. I did not regret it.

They do not have many food options available, their menu is pretty basic. Either chicken burger, popcorn chicken, ribs, or a chicken wrap are your options. All the options are delicious and a great day plan is to pick up KFC and take it to beach for a nice picnic. I usually order the chicken burger and my husbands loves the ribs.

Bread & Cheese:

If you a travel who ventures out and really attempts to do as the locals do, you definitely will want to partake in a Bread & Cheese adventure. Bread & Cheese have around 3 shops around the island. Our personal favorite is called Blow Away. Bread & Cheese are small bakeries around the island and open up around 2am in the morning.

Most people eat Taco Bell after their drunken rendezvous, but Antiguans eat bread & cheese.

If you are a night owl and find yourself hungry one night I would venture out and try it, or if you are more of an early bird you can go in the morning. Their bread is fresh, warm, crisp on the outside, and fluffy on the inside.

The cheese they put in the bread resembles the taste of velveeta cheese, but with more flavor and actually taste like real cheese. If you have more of a sweet tooth, I recommend trying their sweet bun. Their sweet buns are scrumptious, I add cream cheese to the sweet buns… my husband says I am destroying the taste of the bread, but it taste devine.

Boom:

This unique restaurant is set in front a remodeled 18th century Gunpowder store, and they even offer a few art exhibits you can visit. To get there you have to cross the water on a small boat (dingy), and when you reach it you will be greeted by a stunning view and an infinity pool surrounded by hammocks that you are free to enjoy.

The food is yummy, the staff are very friendly, and their menu offers a little bit of everything. Their menu is fresh and healthy and offer many seafood options. Such as their catch of the day, fresh grilled lobster, and my personal favorite their Thai shrimp cake salad. Yum! If you rate a restaurant based on quality of food and the vibe I would try out Boom.

If a relaxed lunch is what you crave with side dish of spectacular insta worthy views, definitely add Boom to your food bucket list.

Beach Bum Bar & Grill:

If you are able to go to Half Moon Bay beach make sure you go hungry. Perched up right before you reach the sandy shoreline there is quaint small restaurant that offers one of the best chicken burgers on the island. There menu is extensive, they have burgers, wraps, salads, sandwiches, and many sides.

My husband loves their Mahi mahi burger with sweet potato fries, and I was blown away by their garden salad and home made vinaigrette dressing. Their chicken burger is delicious with some special home made sauce that gives it an extra zing. They also offer many cocktails and local beers along with many nonalcoholic beverages.

You could easily spend a whole day at Half Moon Bay. Soak up the sunshine and enjoy some really great food while you are it.

Basilico Italian Restaurant:

I recently just tried out this restaurant, and I was not disappointed. This is one of the most pricier restaurants that I have listed, but I was thoroughly impressed so I have to add it.

Lovely atmosphere, great food, and incredibly helpful and friendly staff. Most Italian restaurants I leave feeling disgustingly overly stuffed and all I want to do is flop on my bed, but this was the exception. I left feeling satisfied without being in a food coma.

We started our 3 course meal with an antipasto Italian cold cuts and cheeses for an appetizer alongside a passion fruit mojito. Do yourself a favor and order the passion fruit mojito, it was the perfect balance of sweet and citrusy.

Our waitress recommended we order the pasta for our main course, since it is all made fresh in their kitchen, and I am so happy we did. The homemade lasagne and tagliatelle was divine. Packed with so much flavor, and the perfect amount of sauce and cheese.

For dessert my husband ordered the tiramisu while I ordered the salted caramel panna cotta with fresh pears and almonds. Both were delicious, but if choosing one over the other, I would order the tiramisu. I am huge coffee lover, but for some reason I am not overly fond of tiramisu. So I was extremely surprised that I absolutely loved theirs. I do not know how Basilico makes their famous tiramisu, but I need the recipe. All in all it was a great date night, and we both left knowing we will be back soon.
